When to Replace Business Network Equipment

How to tell whether your issue needs a redesign, cleanup, or replacement of aging equipment.

Replace equipment when

  • The hardware is obsolete or unsupported
  • The equipment cannot handle the number of connected devices
  • Business needs outgrew the original design
  • You need capabilities the current hardware cannot provide

Do not replace equipment just because

  • Someone rebooted it a few times
  • No one understands the current configuration
  • Access points are placed badly
  • Guest and business traffic were never separated properly

A review of the current environment, cleanup of the existing design, better documentation, and selective upgrades often solve the real problem more effectively than replacing everything at once.
